VILLAS FOR SALE

Image
It is the mushroom season...but there are more houses appearing than mushrooms. Officials frequently  turn a blind eye to enclosing a balcony extension, but last  year to fill the coffers and gain credit,  an official pardon was issued for constructions  built prior to 2017... offering a fine lower than obtaining building permission in the first place!!...Prior became  Post .....and construction still continues at a Futuristic pace. ERECTING A VILLA  AT KIRME Limestone for cement is ever available. Turkey supplied over 100 countries with 13,000,000 tons of cement last year ...'consumption' per capita states the Turkish  Cement  Manufacturers Association  is 900 kg!  The  cement sector is the third largest industrial source of pollution in the world and. potatoes have quadrupled in price in the last four months. This may seem to have no connection but when a coal-burning Thermal  Power Station was opened near Milas 40 years ago the local villagers' crops  all

ANOTHER YEAR...flown by?

Image
It certainly lost some of its momentum on the way. What did we achieve with 3 years of  Brexit? New words like Frexit and Grexit. What did the Mayoral ballots of Istanbul 3 weeks ago achieve ...quite surprisingly something but the authorities are still recounting the votes....the faster we live the less we achieve ? Our options are open to a multiple of opposing opinions.....and so we tread water to escape from the tentacles of tactless politicians in the hope that the filter system of past and future referenda ( please refer to  Latin grammar) will lead us into a calm lagoon of congeniality... .....and talking about lagoons, the waters at Oludeniz are improving; once again we can recognise the sea bed. The sky is cloudier but the sea is clearer....and that is the forecast for the whole season in  one sentence.                                         THE FORECAST CONTINUES TOMORROW

NO RAIN..... NEW ARRIVAL

Image
The area has seen no rain since the beginning of June ..... due to the alkalinity of the soil we have to use  hosepipes! much to the joy of this new arrival who rushes around uncoiling every hose she can find. Laila Cem's daughter gave her this name when she was just ten days old and bottle fed. .Now 4 months she weighs 2 kilos...parenthood speculations range from Husky to German Shepherd to Jack Russell... she is small with large ears. Is it possible to decode a dogs DNA? I did a DNA swab test via an American site.... expecting to be  simply Scottish Irish Scandinavian.....only to discover Berber and Nigerian! So never go by the looks of anything or take anything for granted. Who would have thought Europe would crumble or Turkey would become a one party democracy.... We have had  happy times at Blacktree this year....less arrivals but lovely people....we watched the bloodfull moon....took picnics into the woods...kids made gorgeous mosaics. Well spring is really here and the heat  simmers over the fields.....bell Hyacinths, minute  Irises, Stars of Bethlemen, Orchis Anatolica, various Cow Parsleys and clovers.....in another few days the Cornflowers will appear....but the great surprise today is the little calf Tom....we wanted a girl this time as we could keep her. Tom already has a very boisterous brother Bill whom we shall have to sell soon. Males can be difficult to control! Mr Turkey left Mrs Turkey and their 7 chicks suddenly yesterday afternoon and went walkabout...walked so far that I fear he may not have met a Gruffalo! Our first walkers of the year arrive tomorrow.....most people seem to stay in Fethiye nowadays and just do daily outings which is a pity.......one can experience town life anywhere. Nature may not be sophisticated but it offers freedom for thought.....and of course really good food if one is staying a t Blacktree. Previously most Turks though that anyone who walked for the fun of it  must be suffe

goodbye MADDIE goodbye

Taken outside the gate....found on an exploratory walk after Eid! Maddie has a passport to the UK....travelling there by Express Airconditioned Bus service.... How many Turks would like to be in her place! Maddie is now nine  and has decide to retire  and live in luxury with Jane. No more crooning to the Call to Prayer, no more smelly goats feet, hello  Manchurian melodies and doggy treats. Blacktree will not be the same without you....love you Maddie.... Note from Maddie...please visit me. Anthea knows my address.
